Forced
into temping hell, out-of-work actress Cynthia Cynical embarks on a hilarious
guided tour of her office and the characters that inhabit it, including The Office
Bitch, Amma the Ghanaian Canteen Lady and Mrs Henry the Cleaner - who all share
their indomitable views on the meaning of life as only they know it. Dedicated
to single mothers, working mothers, career women and all those women who hold
the world together while still managing to smile, look sexy and be outspoken,
The Little Big Woman Book takes a humorous look at life, love and rites of passage
for the Black thirtysomething woman in Britain today. Inspired by Gideon's hit
stage show, Peckham's answer Ally McBeal offers the perfect survival guide to
love, losses, relationships and ticking body clocks. The
author, South London-based actress and writer Llewella Gideon is one of Britain's
brightest and funniest Black female performers, and is best known for her work
in TV comedy, having appeared in shows such as The Real McCoy, Absolutely Fabulous,
Murder Most Horrid and the film Spice World - The Movie. She has also written
three hit one-woman shows for the stage including The Little Big Woman, on which
this book is based, which has been adapted for three series for Radio 4 and in
2010 became the first Black solo show to run in London's West End.
